Jake Hornick: Hamilton College - Lacrosse
Riverdale Review: How long have you been playing your sport?
Jake Hornick: I have been playing lacrosse for 14 years.
RR: What’s your favorite thing about your sport? Favorite memory?
JH: My favorite thing about my sport is spending time with friends and kind of like the rush I feel on the field. My favorite memory is probably spending time with teammates from the school in the locker room.
RR: Who has been your greatest inspiration or role model during your athletic career?
JH: My parents, for sure. They sacrificed a lot to drive me everywhere, take me to practice, help me with recruiting, and gave me advice along the way.
RR: What are you most looking forward to about continuing your athletic career at Hamilton College?
JH: The people. I am excited to be part of an environment where everybody is dedicated to the same goal of winning. That common goal is going to bring us all together.
RR: Were there ever moments when you doubted yourself and your athletic talent? If so, what did or do you do to get past those doubts?
JH: I was injured my sophomore and junior year of high school so I missed a lot of time and reps on the field as well as moments with my teammates. So it was hard to dig down deeper and keep working. At times I would ask myself what my younger self would want me to do. I was just a little kid that wanted to succeed that has driven me to play and continue to love the game.
RR: What advice would you give to anyone beginning or interested in the recruitment process?
JH: Be organized. Figure out what schools and cultures you want to be a part of and just reach out. Nothing is ever gonna happen if you don’t take a chance on yourself.
