Students Shine in End-of-year Arts Performances

Students Shine in End-of-year Arts Performances

As the school year draws to a close, Riverdale is abuzz with anticipation for the upcoming three months of summer vacation. However, before the final bell rings, there are still a few exciting events in store. Senior graduation serves as a fitting end to the spring season, offering the Class of 2024 a final chance to celebrate the hard work they have put in over the past four years. Alongside graduation, Senior Prom and Prank Day are two more significant events taking place in the coming weeks. The Riverdale Review asked members of the community what they are most looking forward to in the spring.

Senior graduation is the last event to take place in the spring cycle, but without a doubt, the most exciting. Dean of the Class of 2024, Mr. Johnny Hager mentioned that the event is a bittersweet moment for him. As the faculty member who has been with the Class of ‘24 for all of their high school career, Mr. Hager is excited about “seeing them all together one last time.” Graduation is certainly one of the most memorable events of the school year, filled with tears and happiness, as parents, siblings, teachers, and friends come to watch the amazing Class of ‘24 complete high school!

Before they can graduate, though, the senior class still has prom on the horizon. Spring at Riverdale would not be complete without the elaborate and crowd-drawing “promposals” keeping students excited to see what this year’s senior class will pull off. As evidenced by the creation of the Riverdale promposals Instagram account, the community’s interest in this tradition has clearly not waned.

Seniors Savy Phillips and Will Nath’s promposal was especially memorable. Nath created a grand gesture in which his friends spelled out “prom?” on the football field with their bodies, setting the stage for an unforgettable moment. She said yes!

End-of-year events are not all about the seniors, though. Other Upper Schoolers can contribute to the excitement around campus by participating in sports teams. During Spring Fling, an event similar to Homecoming in the fall, the Falcons won several games against Fieldston.

Boys’ Varsity Lacrosse was able to end their regular season with a 7 - 4 win and Boys’ Varsity Tennis clinched the Ivy Championship with an undefeated 10 - 0 record in their season. Looks like we are still the “King of the Nest.” Freshman Nate Selvers recounted how, in the lacrosse game, “the defense played really well.” The game also showcased the offensive talents of the team with Nath “landing four goals, which is impressive,” Selvers added.

Summer may be just around the corner, but there is still so much left to enjoy in the last week! The warm weather, promposals, and graduation let students celebrate the hard work they have put in all year. See you in the fall, Falcons!
